The Vice President of Facilities, Construction & Support Services position is located in Indianapolis, IN.

Job Duties

The Vice President of Facilities, Construction & Support Services directs overall planning, design, construction management, and engineering of all sites of care for Community Health Network. The VP provides regulatory oversight, direction and project management to existing facilities and is responsible for network safety and security, providing and executing a network safety and security plan as well as ensuring effective environment of care processes. This leader will build a construction management function to manage and execute new construction projects in conjunction with current and future Master Facility Plans. The VP partners with Network and operational leadership to establish standards of service, develop organizational plans to carry out activities within approved budgets, maximizing real estate asset utilization and evaluating services provided. This position works with senior leaders to ensure capital needs are coordinated with the Network’s strategic priorities.

The VP provides oversight for all facilities, construction, and support services for Community Health Network. This includes:
  • Capital purchasing and planning through a continuous quality improvement / renovation process that strives to achieve 100% customer satisfaction.
  • Promotes a cultural shift toward a fully integrated, standardized, and centralized approach for purchasing and construction across all entities, with a mind toward streamlined efficiency.
  • Works collaboratively to support the site management and finance teams, as well as all stakeholders in the development and maintenance of world-class facilities, construction and engineering programs to deliver on programmatic initiatives.
  • Oversight and leadership of security for all locations to create and execute the network security plan.
  • Responsibility for the management of outsource support service contracts (i.e. Environmental Services, Food & Nutrition Services, and Clinical Engineering).
  • Partners with operational leaders to achieve The Joint Commission and other regulatory bodies’ requirements in the areas of life safety, environment of care, and developing interventional approaches to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Supports operations in planning and delivery of transition activities to new facilities.
  • Leads project managers to ensure timelines and budgets associated with areas of responsibility are met.

Experience

A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience, managing and administering facilities functions in a large, complex, and distributed organization. Experience in a multi-hospital network / matrixed environment is preferred. Senior-level management experience spanning several facilities and functions (e.g., planning operations and technology management) is strongly preferred.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or healthcare is required. A master's degree in a related healthcare or technical field is highly preferred.

  • Demonstrated leadership over multiple-site location with complex, ongoing, simultaneous engineering and construction projects is essential.
  • The ability to establish a management structure and develop a clear understanding of the mission of all the facilities and of the organization.
  • Proven track record of successful planning, development, and implementation of strategies for operational management and development to meet agreed upon organizational performance plans, timelines, and budgets. 
  • Demonstrated experience leading change, designing business systems and processes, and engaging employees and customers in these activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and implement strategic plans, goals and priorities in the context of divisional and Network goals.
  • Proven ability as a team player and builder who leads by example with the ability to conceptualize, prioritize and coordinate diverse interests and needs while holding others accountable.
