Job Location
The Surgery Scheduler position is located at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Job Duties
  • Schedule surgical cases, monitor the surgery schedule, and relay information regarding the schedule to the assigned chare nurse (i.e. cases running late, emergent situations, canceled cases, etc.).
  • Coordinate workflow at the nursing desk; enter charges and utilization statistic into the computer.
  • Greet and direct surgeons to the assigned O.R. suites.
  • Answer all incoming calls to the O.R. area - take accurate messages and transfers calls to the appropriate personnel.
  • Informs nurse when surgeons arrive.
  • Page surgeons when necessary and contact their office to relay information.
  • Notifies patients of change in operating times or expected arrival times.
  • Provides clerical support as necessary. 

Experience

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in a surgical setting.

Education
  • High School or GED equivalent.
  • College preferred.

Skills 
  • Strong computer skills and medical terminology required.
  • Strong telephone, customer service and communication skills are required.
  • Must be able to multitask and work in a fast paced environment.
  • Medical insurance knowledge preferred.
