The Strength and Conditioning Specialist Certified - Sports Medicine Outreach is position located in Indianapolis, Indiana


Job Duties
  • Designs and implements strength and conditioning programs for athletic teams and individuals.
  • Teaches safe and effective lifting techniques, speed development, agility, and conditioning exercises for the enhancement of athletic ability and prevention of injury.
  • Supports and effectively communicates the principles of strength and conditioning to the athletes and active individuals.
  • Experience
  • None, but some contracts may require prior experience as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist

Education
Bachelor's Degree in Sport Science, Exercise Physiology, or other health related field

License
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)

Skills
  • Extensive knowledge of growth and developmental issues involving players that are pre-puberty, in puberty, and young adults
  • Ability to present /demonstrate exercises in weight room and on the tennis court
  • Knowledge of elite athletes with specific understanding of tennis movements/injury patterns
  • Knowledgeable in anatomy/physiology, current training techniques and functional progressions, and current advancements and trends
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, peers, patients, families, physicians, and all internal/external customers is also required
  • Ability to incorporate a basic understanding of the behaviors, developmental needs, physical needs, emotional needs and comfort of the child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient
  • Ability to organize responsibilities and to set priorities
  • Ability to function independently and make independent judgment and sound decisions
  • Ability to communicate professionally, effectively and compassionately, both verbally and in writing, with athletes, patients, coaches, family members, physicians, other practitioners, management staff, fitness participants, and the community
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to adapt to ever-changing work conditions
