The Patient Account Representative position is located in Indianapolis, Indiana

Job Duties

• The Patient Account Representative primary responsibilities support the patient accounts department by communicating with insurance companies, utilization review staff, and clinical staff regarding claim and reimbursement issues
• Primarily focused on reimbursement for Commercial and Medicare carriers
• Knowledge of governmental and third party payer billing and reimbursement methodology necessary
• Availity Management per assignment
• Verifies and updates insurance information as required
• Manages unpaid claims reports
• Review and manages underpayment reports
• Appeals on denied claims as deemed necessary and appropriate
• Manages daily/weekly/monthly reports


• Two years' experience in a healthcare hospital or office setting
• General working knowledge of professional and facility coding for both CPT and ICD-10
• Behavioral Health billing and claims follow up experience preferred


High school diploma or GED equivalent


• Knowledge of ICD-10 codes and computer software
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including linking multiple spreadsheets and workbooks, three dimensional formulas and worksheet grouping
• Accurate data entry
• Detail orientated in fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of patient accounting which includes billing, insurance reimbursement requirements
• Ability to interact with all types of customers
