The Patient Account Representative position is located in Fishers, Indiana


Job Duties


• Responsible for accurately collecting data used by the Insurance Specialist to complete insurance verification and pre-certification with government and non-government payers
• Initiates and completes accurate Home Medical Equipment patient intake information data entry in appropriate practice management system
• Arranges for set-up of equipment with patients/families and assists/educates walk-in customers
• Accepts inbound phone calls from patients and referral sources within a specific response to call time frame and with the intent to resolve the caller’s needs immediately in a pleasant professional manner
• Utilizes excellent phone etiquette at all times
• Checks and responds to voice mail, phone messages and email messages routinely in a timely and appropriate manner
• Responsible to complete all assigned functions completely, accurately and timely prior to forwarding documents for billing
• Responsible to meet assigned departmental and individual targets
• Works cooperatively with the Home Medical Equipment dispatch office to assure we are meeting delivery expectations
• Generates HME tickets used for delivery and pick-up of equipment


Experience


• Two years of medical billing experience required
• Prior experience with referral processing strongly preferred


Education


High school diploma or GED equivalent


Skills


• Knowledge of home medical equipment and health care
• Strong organizational and problem solving skills
• Strong communication skills
• Supports an environment of team work
