Job Location

The Patient Account Representative position is located in Fishers, Indiana


Job Duties

• Responsible for verifying patient insurance benefits within a timeframe defined by the departmental collection process and flow
• Monitors expiring authorizations to assure new authorization are obtained in a timely manner
• Initiates phone calls to insurance companies to determine the extent of coverage, authorization and/or pre-certification requirements, other limitations or co-payment provisions and whether any staff follow-up is needed
• Demonstrates good understanding of and compliance with Medicare, Medicaid and insurance carriers for HME rules and regulations along with knowledge of insurance companies’ procedures
• Continues to stay informed of any changes in regulations or statutes that could impact reimbursement
• Reviews insurance information loaded into the practice management system for accuracy and completeness. Identifies and/or rectifies problems if needed
• Enters all benefit and authorization information & documents all conversations w/ payer representatives into appropriate practice management system accurately, completely and in a timely manner


Experience


• Two years of medical billing experience required
• Prior experience with insurance verification strongly preferred


Education

High school diploma or GED equivalent


Skills

• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and third party payer guidelines
• Knowledge of home medical equipment and health care
• Strong organizational and problem solving skills
• Strong communication skills
• Supports an environment of team work
