The Nurse Manager, Surgery Center position is located in Indianapolis, IN.

Job Duties

The Nurse Manager is responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes safety and well-being of all patients and staff. This leader plans, directs, coordinates and evaluates the overall clinical practices and activities necessary for the center to function on a daily basis. The Nurse Manager also:
  • Participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Monitors actual patient care to assess the progress of the preoperative and postoperative process.
  • Communicates any delays preoperatively to surgeons, anesthesiologists, operating room, and registration staff in a timely and accurate manner to ensure optimal use of schedule and patient flow.
  • Maintains open communication with all staff to promote improvement in performance and quality care.
  • Maintains the budget, evaluates the capture of daily charges, and maintains accountability for charges for supplies and equipment.
  • Participates in the interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination of employees.

Critical care, Emergency room or previous PACU experience preferred.
Must demonstrate advanced knowledge of all phases of peri-anesthesia care according to ASPAN professional standards of care.

  • Associate’s graduate of accredited registered nurse program.
  • CPAN or CAPA certification preferred.
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS certification within one year of employment.

Current Indiana Registered Nurse License

  • Must be able to function in all phases of patient care as needed to maintain clinical skills and serve as a role model.
  • Promotes a positive work environment to enhance employee and patient satisfaction.
  • Requires high degree of responsibility, confidentiality and discretion.
  • Remains calm and effective in stressful situations and takes initiative in emergency situations.
  • Is able to prioritize, organize and multi-task.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and professionalism.
  • Must be able to identify, intervene appropriately and resolve problems in a timely and respectful manner. Be able to use leadership skills to promote teamwork by example.
