Job Location
The Grief Specialist position is school based with schools located across the city of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Job Duties
  • Provide school-based grief support and education to bereaved students and their families
  • Work collaboratively with School-Based Grief Counselor within partner schools
  • Facilitate individual, group and family skills training and development sessions
  • Assist with specialty youth and family outreach events
Experience
One year of experience in a position providing bereavement support services and/or youth mental health services preferred

Education
Bachelor’s degree required (in mental health related field preferred)

License
Current Indiana Driver’s license and proof of auto insurance required; driving record that adheres to CHI policy

Skills
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Problem solving abilities/good judgment
  • Able to make home/community based site visits
  • Effective group facilitation skills
  • Ability to function independently under supervision
  • Interpersonal skills including motivation, flexibility, persistence, and patience
  • Ability to relate in a non-judgmental and culturally competent manner
  • Knowledge of behavioral health competencies specific to population being served
  • Specialized training and/or experience, age-specific competencies to deal with the needs of the patient population served
Additional Information
The primary function of this job is school based however, new hire will be required to go out into the community during extended school breaks. The main hours are 8:00am – 5:00pm however, may vary depending on schools start time.
