This position is located in Anderson.
Reports to the Patient Accounts Manager and is responsible for the processing and submission of all government insurance claims (either Medicare or Medicaid). Duties include typing, computer input, verification of reimbursement and assessing rejections/denials by the payer. The Specialist must be fluent with the appropriate government guidelines, compliance and appeals processes. This position is team focused with emphasis on government payer requirements, collection law, the ability to analyze multiple situations as well as to identify problems and solutions to expedite payment. This position requires a high degree of problem solving skills and a comprehensive knowledge of Patient Accounts Billing requirements.
Experience in working with third party payors, health care insurance programs and reimbursement practices.
The level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of high school classes with completion of post-high school classes in medical terminology, computer word processing, and computer spreadsheets.
