The Director of Purchasing position is located in Indianapolis, IN.

Job Duties

The Director manages the procurement service operations for the Network. This leader:
  • Supervises the team responsible for processing all incoming requests from local hospitals, offices, and ambulatory care sites.
  • Oversees purchase order expediting, returns, requisition training, and other customer service tasks related to ordering and delivery of products to correct locations in a timely manner.
  • Ensures the processes of purchase orders for goods and services are in accordance with corporate Supply Chain policies and procedures.
  • Directs the resolution of invoice discrepancies by working closely with Network Accounts Payable.
  • Works closely with Supply Chain Sourcing Analysts and Data Management Team to ensure the data entered into procurement system is correct and consistent with network and industry standards.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ management experience in procurement and/or accounts payable.
  • Experience in leading multi-hospital or business system in supply chain management functions preferred.
  • Project and change management experience preferred, with a solid understanding of supply chain operations.

Bachelor’s degree in business management, hospital administration, or other related field required. MBA preferred.

  • Must possess excellent leadership skills and be comfortable leading in a matrix team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and grow a department.
  • Understanding of the linkages between distribution requirements, planning and other supply chain processes such as demand planning, inventory planning, contracting and transportation.
  • Excellent communication skills, strong organization and time management skills, attention to detail, and a continuous process improvement mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to align a diverse group of stakeholders and vendors with conflicting priorities.
  • Excellent customer service skills and familiarity with medical and surgical supplies.
  • Knowledge of supply management approaches for different portfolios and supply chain management principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of procure-to-pay (EDI/GHX electronic data interchange) process.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, monitor, track and report on departmental Key Performance Indicators and develop a risk or mitigation plan.
