The Director of Cost Accounting position is located in Indianapolis, IN.

Job Duties

The Director of Cost Accounting will:
  • Lead the cost accounting portion of the Decision Support team, aspects of the decisions support system, and the distribution and usage of data around the Network. The focus is not strictly financial, though knowledge of financial concepts is a must. 
  • Provide analysis of existing and proposed programs. 
  • Develop and implement information solutions through knowledge of multiple systems and network resources.
  • Lead research projects ranging from evaluation and development of utilization studies to clinical programs and outcomes studies. 
  • Lead researching and writing proposals for new business development as needed.
  • Supervise analysts responsible for cost accounting system.


  • Minimum eight (8) years of accounting, finance or related experience in health insurance, managed care, provider reimbursement, outcomes research, or other healthcare decision support fields. 
  • Minimum two (2) years of leadership experience.


Bachelor degree required; finance or business preferred. Master’s preferred.


  • Must have knowledge of healthcare cost accounting principles.
  • Skilled at determining strategy and gaining buy-in.
  • Strong team leadership skills.
  • Ability to teach concepts to peer leadership and communicate recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Knowledge of LEAN / Six Sigma principles.
  • Ability to communicate with others verbally and in written format, including presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Must be able to travel to other facilities on and off campus. Must be able to utilize keyboard and telephone.
