varies. Prenatal interview at 36 weeks. On call to mom in labor. Stay throughout the labor and birth. Do a postpartum visit 24-48 hours after the birth.
Job Location
The Birth Doula position is located in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Job Duties
The Birth Doula is responsible for following an individual mom/family through the birth process to provide emotional, physical and informational support; the doula will do a prenatal interview, have contact with the family between the interview and onset of labor, work with the family at the hospital during the labor and birth process, stay for 1-2 hours following a birth to provide assistance and do a postpartum follow-up visit or phone call. A small amount of paperwork is required.


Prior experience working with birthing families is preferred.

High school diploma or GED required.
Completion of approved DONA International doula training.

No license required

  • Must be able to work independently, must be able to work as a team member at the bedside with other care providers.
  • Have a knowledge of comfort measures for laboring women, doulas must be able to work independently prior to labor as well as be a team member at the bedside.
No testing required   Additional Information Available to be on call to an expectant family without hours set in advance.
