Shelbourne Knee Center

The Shelbourne Knee Center, Indiana’s only knee care specialty center, includes clinic, surgery, X-ray, a fully-equipped physical therapy/rehabilitation gym, and research. Orthopedic surgeons K. Donald Shelbourne, MD and Rodney Benner, MD have years of experience treating professional, college, high school, and recreational athletes. Dr. Shelbourne provided sports coverage to the Indianapolis Colts from 1984 to 1998, and both Dr. Shelbourne and Dr. Benner currently serve as orthopedic consultants to Purdue University and Wabash College.

Dr. Shelbourne pioneered the contralateral ACL reconstruction technique and developed the Accelerated ACL Reconstruction Rehabilitation Protocol used around the world. This advancement in treatment offers patients the ability to rehabilitate their knee faster with more predictable results. Thousands of patients have undergone this procedure and most athletes return to their sport by 5-6 months after surgery.
