Prior to surgery
Pre-registration: Prior to the day of your surgery, you may receive a phone call from a registration clerk. You will be asked for information about your insurance coverage at this time. If you do not receive a phone call, please bring insurance information with you on the day of surgery.
Pre-operative testing: You may be required to have lab tests, X-rays or an EKG prior to your surgery. Your surgeon will provide you with information about where and when you should complete any necessary tests. Tests should be completed within seven days of your scheduled procedure. A pre-op clinic visit may be scheduled for you during which time testing can be completed.
Pre-op clinic: A pre-op clinic visit provides you with the opportunity to meet a nurse in the pre-operative care unit. During this visit any pre-op testing can be completed, your medical-surgical history will be discussed and important educational information provided. You and your family will also have an opportunity to ask questions regarding your upcoming surgical experience. If you have a complicated medical history or at your surgeon's request, you may be seen by an anesthesiologist.
Scheduling a clinic visit: You may be scheduled for a clinic visit by your surgeon's office, or you may schedule an appointment yourself by calling the centralized scheduling office at 317-355-4680. Be sure to notify your surgeon's office with the date of your clinic appointment so that orders can then be sent to the clinic.
Pre-op call:If you have not had a pre-op clinic visit, you may receive a phone call from a pre-op nurse prior to the day of your surgery. She will ask you questions regarding your medical-surgical history, medications and current health status. This will also provide you with an opportunity to ask questions.
Pediatric program: Children often feel more at ease if their surroundings are somewhat familiar to them. A pre-op visit is helpful. Please call 317-355-4680 (centralized scheduling) to schedule a pediatric visit.
