Presented by the Indy Star

100 nominees for 2013 Salute to Nurses

Congratulations to the 102 Community Health Network Indy Star Salute to Nurses nominees! We were thrilled to have the opportunity to recognize so many of our outstanding nurses, and were very proud that we had nominees not only from our Indianapolis locations, but also from Westview, Howard and Anderson. Twenty-seven of our nominees attend the Salute to Nurses banquet in April, and as always, it was a wonderful celebration and an opportunity thank and recognize not only our nominees, but all nurses.

2012 Salute to Nurses winner

Beth Tharp, R.N., 2012 Salute to Nurses winnerAt Community Health Network, we are blessed with many, many exceptional nurses who enrich the lives of our patients and families every day. We have the opportunity to recognize them for their compassion and service through the Indy Star’s Salute to Nurses, honoring nurses and nurse educators across the state who provide selfless service with tireless dedication.

Beth Tharp, R.N., a nurse at Community Hospital Anderson, was named a 2012 Salute to Nurses winner.

What can one individual do to advance the practice of nursing? Astonishing things, if that one individual is a nurse like Beth Tharp, R.N. As vice president of patient care services, Beth’s impact can be seen throughout Community Hospital Anderson. To name just a few examples: maternity services honored by the World Health Organization and the CDC, a research center that gives Madison County residents access to the nation’s most cutting-edge clinical trials, a wound healing center that has changed countless lives, a program to build and recognize nursing excellence. We’re proud that Beth is being honored for "Advancement in Nursing"—but the real winners are the patients and families whose lives she has touched.

2010 - Community tallies 151 Salute to Nurses nominees

Community Health Network nurses were nominated by patients, family members, friends and coworkers in the The Indianapolis Star’s eighth annual Salute to Nurses contest. In fact, the 151 nominations that were sent in meant that, for another year in a row, Community Health Network was recognized for receiving the most nominations of any health care organization in the contest. The network received a plaque at the Salute to Nurses luncheon on April 28 honoring this recognition. A full listing of names and locations of Community’s nominated nurses is included below.

“Congratulations to all the nurses nominated for the Salute to Nurses awards sponsored by The Indianapolis Star,” shares Jan Bingle, network chief nursing officer. “We are proud to have received, once again, the most nominations turned in for this recognition event. The nominations submitted make evident the professional excellence of all 3,000 Community nurses wherever nursing is practiced.”
