Lawrence Gering, M.D.
Lawrence Gering, M.D., has been practicing at Community Howard since 2009. Dr. Gering is board certified in internal medicine with subspecialties in cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology. Dr. Gering received his medical degree from Northwestern University, Chicago, did his internship and residency at Indiana University School of Medicine and his fellowship in cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston. He was a clinical and research fellow in medicine and electrophysiology at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston.
Lawrence Klein, M.D.
Lawrence Klein, MD, joined the Community Howard Regional Health medical staff as a cardiologist in 2013. Dr. Klein has practiced in Indianapolis since 1986. Board certified in cardiovascular electrophysiology, cardiovascular disease and internal medicine, Dr. Klein received his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College, Philadelphia, and did his internship and residency at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He was a fellow at Indiana University School of Medicine.
Michael G. Koelsch, M.D.
Michael G. Koelsch, M.D., joined the Community Howard Regional Health medical staff as a cardiothoracic surgeon in 2013. Dr. Koelsch is board certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Most recently, he was in private practice in Muncie. Having received his medical degree from Finch University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School, he did his general surgery residency and his fellowship in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at Loyola University- Foster McGraw Hospital, Maywood, Illinois.
Blair MacPhail, M.D.
Blair MacPhail, M.D., joined the Community Howard Regional Health medical staff as an interventional cardiologist in 2013. Board certified in general cardiology, interventional cardiology and peripheral vascular intervention of the lower extremities and kidney arteries, Dr. MacPhail has most recently practiced in Indianapolis. He received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and did both his internship and his residency at Butterworth Hospital, Grand Rapids, Michigan. He did a fellowship in cardiology intervention at University of Kentucky Hospitals, Lexington.
Rajesh Mallela, M.D.
Rajesh Mallela, M.D., joined Community Howard Regional Health in 2013. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, echocardiography and nuclear medicine. Additionally, Dr. Mallela is certified as a registered physician in vascular interpretation. Dr. Mallela received his medical degree from Mysore Medical College, India. He did his internal medicine residency at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, North Chicago, Illinois, and served as a hospitalist at Ball Memorial Hospital. He was chief fellow in cardiology at Tulane University, New Orleans, and did an interventional cardiology and peripheral vascular fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Jaro Mayda II, M.D.
Jaro Mayda II, M.D., become an employed physician of Community Howard Regional Health in 2013. In practice in Kokomo since 2000, Dr. Mayda earned his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. He did his residency in general surgery at Cleveland Clinic and a fellowship in vascular surgery at Lutheran Medical Center – Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Mayda is certified by the American Board of Surgeons, the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review, the American Board of Vascular Medicine (endovascular surgery) and the American Board of Bariatric Medicine. He has served as medical director of Community Howard’s Vascular Lab and Vascular and Endovascular Services and was also medical director of Community Howard’s Wound Clinic.
Ghaith Nahlawi, M.D.
Ghaith Nahlawi, M.D., joined Community Howard Regional Health in 2013. He is board certified in internal medicine and will soon receive his certification from the American Society of Echocardiography. Dr. Nahlawi served as the lead hospitalist at North Shore University Health System, Evanston Hospital, Evanston, Illinois. He received his medical degree from the University of Aleppo, Syria, and a histology fellowship at the University of Damascus. Dr. Nahlawi’s internal medicine residency was at West Suburban Hospital, an affiliate of Loyola University, Oak Park, Illinois. He completed his cardiology fellowship at New York Methodist Hospital, an affiliate of Weill Cornell Medical College, Cornell University, Brooklyn, New York.
