East office

David I. Hollander, M.D.

David I. Hollander, M.D.Dr. Hollander attended the University of Michigan and received his B.S. in Zoology in 1976. He then went on to the Wayne State School of Medicine, in Detroit and received his medical degree in May of 1981. He graduated from medical school with honors and became a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society. He completed his internal medicine residency at the McGaw Medical Center at Northwestern University in Chicago in June of 1984. 

His fellowship in gastroenterology was completed at Wayne State University. Dr. Hollander joined Gastroenterology Care in July of 1986. His practice is based at the Gastroenterology Care office at Community Hospital East. He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

Joseph M. Henderson, M.D.

Joseph M. Henderson, M.D.Dr. Henderson is a native of Florida who graduated from the University of South Florida, Tampa, in 1982 and the University of South Florida College of Medicine in 1986. After medical school, he moved to Lexington, Kentucky, where he completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. After his fellowship he was a clinical faculty member at UK for one year, then from 1992-1994, he was a clinical faculty member in the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology, at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor.

In 1994, Dr. Henderson moved to Indianapolis and joined Gastroenterology Care. He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology and is based at our Community Hospital East office.

Ninad H. Shah, M.D.

Ninad H. Shah, M.D.Dr. Ninad Shah is a native of Chicago, Illinois. He received his B.A. in Biological Sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2001. He obtained his medical degree in 2005 at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Case Western University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio from 2005 to 2008. He completed his fellowship in gastroenterology at Cook County Hospital in Chicago from 2008 to 2011.

Dr. Shah joined Gastroenterology Care in 2011; his current practice is based at the Community Hospital East office. Dr. Shah is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.


North office

Eldred H. MacDonell, Jr., M.D.

Eldred H. MacDonell, Jr., M.D.Dr. MacDonell is a native of South Bend and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1984. He received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Emory University, Atlanta, then moved to Charleston, South Carolina, where he completed his fellowship in gastroenterology.

Dr. MacDonell joined Gastroenterology Care in 1994 and is based at our Community Hospital North office. He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

Stephen J. Carlson, M.D.

Stephen J. Carlson, M.D.Dr. Carlson is a native of Illinois and received his bachelor's degree in economics from Northwestern University, Chicago in 1986. He graduated from medical school at the University of Illinois in 1990. His internal medicine internship and residency and his gastroenterology fellowship were completed at Northwestern University Medical School and Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Carlson joined Gastroenterology Care in 1996 and is based at our Community Hospital North office. Dr. Carlson is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

Dan Ciaccia, M.D.

Dan Ciaccia, M.D.Dr. Ciaccia is a native of Chicago and received his bachelor's degree from Loyola University in 1985 after which he moved to Wisconsin. He received his medical degree from The Medical College of Wisconsin in 1989. After medical school, he completed his internship and residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina from 1989 to 1995. He was on staff at Duke University Hospital from 1995 to 1997 before joining the clinical faculty at Indiana University Medical Center where he practiced from 1997 to 2001.

Dr. Ciaccia joined Gastroenterology Care in 2001. His practice is based at our Community Hospital North office. He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

Matthew Harrison, M.D.

Matthew Harrison, M.D.Dr. Harrison is a native of Flint, Michigan. He graduated from Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University Chicago in 1998. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine, as well as his fellowship in gastroenterology at Indiana University Medical Center from 1998 to 2004.

He joined Gastroenterology Care in 2004, with his practice based at the Community Hospital North office. He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.
