In early 2014, Community will open a new world-class cancer care and treatment facility in south Indianapolis. The $24 million center will include 65,000 square feet of dedicated space for cancer treatment and physician offices, access to support services, mobile scanning unit, a healing garden for patients and families, and much more.
Oncology services offered on the south side of Indianapolis, at or near Community Hospital South, include medical and radiation oncology treatment, breast surgical oncology (for breast cancer), and gynecologic cancer care.
Medical oncologists specialize in the treatment of cancer using chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, biological therapy or targeted therapy and provide ongoing support during treatment. Community's medical oncologists >>
Radiation oncologists treat cancer using radiation methods, such as high-energy x-rays to destroy cancer cells. In addition to expert physicians, we offer certified radiation oncology nurses who have completed additional training in this area. Community's radiation oncologists >>
Breast surgical oncology
Community's board certified breast surgeons are specially trained in breast surgery and treatment of benign and malignant breast diseases. Together with our breast health navigators, our comprehensive breast care program offers support from diagnosis through treatment and survivor support programs. Gynecologic cancer care
Dr. Wafic ElMasri specializes in the treatment and management of gynecological malignancies and complex pelvic surgeries, including common gynecologic cancers: cervical, endometrial, uterine, ovarian and vaginal/vulvar.
