Before your surgery

Pre-registration

Pre-register online for your surgery >>

A registration coordinator will call you to obtain information about your insurance coverage and any other information necessary to register you for surgery. If you have any concerns or questions regarding your surgery, the registration coordinator will assist you in getting answers.

Some of our Centers may also have an RN call you prior to your surgery to review your health history prior to your admission. Gathering as much information as possible prior to the day of surgery is helpful in preventing day of surgery cancellations.

We offer preoperative visits at each center to reduce anxiety prior to surgery. Children especially can benefit from a preoperative visit. The tour provides an opportunity to meet with a registered nurse or an anesthesiologist and discuss any concerns you may have regarding your procedure. To schedule a visit prior to your surgery, call the Community Surgery Center location where your surgery is scheduled.

Once your insurance has been verified, you will most likely receive a call from one of our patient accounts coordinators to inform you of any payments of deductibles, co-insurance or co-payment as required by your insurance company.

In case of illness

If you develop symptoms of any illness prior to surgery, please contact your surgeon and call us at the Community Surgery Center where you are having your surgery.

Changes in the time your surgery is scheduled

Surgery schedules can change for a number of reasons, such as cancellations of other cases or emergencies. If the time or date of your surgery needs to be changed, we will contact you as soon as possible to inform you of the situation and to arrange a new time for your surgery.

Diet instructions before your surgery

Stop taking herbal medications and diet drugs at least one week prior to surgery.

Typically, you should not eat or drink anything after midnight the evening before your surgery.

Your physician may give you other more detailed instructions. Please follow these instructions closely.

If you have any questions about dietary instructions, please call the surgeon with whom your surgery is scheduled.

If your dietary instructions are not followed, your surgery may need to be rescheduled.
