Open Arms newsletter Fall 2007

New - Open Arms newsletters

Grief from the loss of a pregnancy or death of a newborn is often hard for family and friends to understand, especially grieving that continues for several months. A pregnancy loss can be one of the most painful and traumatic times that anyone will experience in his or her lifetime.

There is no right way to grieve.

How parents cope with this loss is very individualized. But no one should have to go through this experience alone. Open Arms extends support to families who experience a pregnancy or newborn loss. This free program offers many different services to help families grieve in a way that meets their specific needs.

All of the Open Arms services are coordinated by a Grief Support Person, specifically trained to offer support to grieving parents. These support people, either staff or volunteers, offer help during this difficult time by listening, comforting or providing resources and advice.
