The History of Community Hospital North

1983

• MedCheck Castleton opened on North campus.

1985

• Community Hospital North with 100-bed acute care inpatient capacity, emergency department, inpatient and outpatient surgery and support services opened as the second hospital in Community Health Network.
• 125-bed Psychiatric Pavilion opened on North Campus (moved from Community Hospital East).
• 7250 Clearvista Dr. professional building opened.

1987

• Family rooms opened, Indianapolis’ first single room maternity care, or LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum) rooms with normal and special care nursery.
• 8180 Clearvista Pkwy. professional building opened.

1989

• 8103 Clearvista Dr. professional building opened.
• 8101 Clearvista Dr. professional building opened.

1990

• Regional Cancer Center opened North Pavilion.

1992

• Indiana Surgery Center North, joint venture with physicians, opened.
• 8040 Clearvista Dr. professional building opened.

1994

• Community Hospital North expansion opened:
  • 19 single-room maternity family suites.
  • 24-bed intensive care/progressive care unit.
  • Expansion of two large surgical suites plus expanded preop/recovery area.
  • Imaging expansion with permanent CT, MRI, SPECT, and upgraded ultrasound and general x-ray.

1997

• Community Health Pavilion at 131st St. and SR 37 in Fishers opened.
• Community Health Pavilion at 56th St. at Ft. Benjamin Harrison in Lawrence opened.

1998

• 11 additional single-room maternity family suites opened.
• Assisted Fertility Services with success rates that exceed national norms opened.

1999

• 15-bed neonatal intensive care unit staffed on-site, around-the-clock with Riley Hospital neonatologists opened.
• Sleep/Wake Disorders Center, with four suites, opened.

2000

• Emergency Department expanded (more than doubling its size).
• Indiana Surgery Center Noblesville, joint venture with physicians, opened.

2001

• Community Home Health Services at 121st St. and Cumberland Rd. in Fishers opened.

2002

• Expanded imaging services with additional CT, MRI and ultrasound capabilities.
• Increased neonatal intensive care beds to 19.
• Community Health Pavilion at 119th St. and Meridian St. in Carmel opened.

2003

• The Indiana Heart Hospital with 56 inpatient beds, 32 day/outpatient beds, and full service heart emergency department opened.

2004

• Groundbreaking for Community Medical Pavilion at 131st St. and Olio Rd.
• Groundbreaking for new expansion, renovation, garage and professional building.
• New free-standing outpatient imaging center opened in December.

2005

• Endoscopy unit opened in August.
• "Topping Out" ceremony held for campus expansion on December 20.

2006

• New physician lounge and HIM area opened in February.
• Four new Operating Rooms opened in expanded surgery area in April.
• Pediatric unit designed for kids and parents opened December.

2007

• Inpatient surgical care unit opened in January.
• Opening of Bamboo Café in February.
• Grand opening of Community Hospital North in April.
• Redesigned NICU opened April.
• Largest single setting of maternity and high-risk units in the country opened April.
• State-of-the-art Community Spine Center opened in July.
