Renowned breast surgeon to provide services at Community Howard Regional Health

Kokomo—Community Howard Regional Health announced today that Dr. Robert Goulet Jr., MD, a highly accomplished breast surgeon and oncologist, is now performing consultations and surgeries at Community Howard Regional Health.

Dr. Robert Goulet, breast surgeon and oncologistGoulet is a board certified general surgeon, specializing in breast surgical oncology. Goulet is a provider with Community Physician Network and the medical director of Community Health Network’s Community Breast Care program. He is now extending his services to Community Howard in Kokomo.

“Dr. Goulet is a highly respected physician with a wealth of knowledge and experience and to now have his services available at Community Howard is a major accomplishment,” said Joe Hooper, president of Community Howard Regional Health. “Dr. Goulet will be working in tandem with our oncology team, nurses and technicians to provide a coordinated treatment plan for each patient. We are very proud to be able to offer the community this level of patient care right here in Kokomo.”

Along with Community Howard’s three other oncologists, Goulet has been certified by MD Anderson Cancer Network®, a program of MD Anderson Cancer Center. Goulet has a long and distinguished career in medicine and has lectured and published extensively on breast cancer.

“This is an exciting opportunity to join a talented team at Community Howard,” said Goulet. “There’s a great collaborative treatment process already in place and I look forward to building on the services that are available in Kokomo. Joining Community Howard will allow me to provide care to the Kokomo community in a location that’s much more convenient for the residents here.”

Community Howard’s oncology team also consists of a nurse navigator who assists patients throughout their treatment process.

Goulet was ranked in the top 1 percent in his field according to US News and World Report and has been on Indianapolis Monthly's "Top Doctors" list for surgery for several years. He was recognized by the Indiana Cancer Consortium with the "Outstanding Contribution to Cancer Control Award" for 2012. He was also named a Sagamore of the Wabash honoree, the state of Indiana’s highest award for service, by Governor Joseph E. Kernan.

Originally from New York, Goulet has lived in Indiana since 1986 and considers himself a Hoosier. He received his medical degree from The State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY, and completed his residency and fellowship at SUNY Downstate as well. Goulet is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the Hoosier Oncology Group, the American College of Surgeons, and the National Consortium of Breast Centers.
