Community Health Network names new leader for its North Region

For release: 8/28/2013

Indianapolis, IN—Community Health Network is pleased to announce that Jason R. Fahrlander has accepted the role of president of the Community North Region. Fahrlander will be responsible for all services provided by the network in the North geographic region. As part of a new regional approach under a corporate realignment announced by Community last month, six regions will have an executive leader teamed with a physician advisor. The other five regions include South, East, West, Anderson/Madison County and Howard County.

“Our regional approach will make sure that our people and our resources are focused on the integrated delivery of care to our patients,” said Tom Fischer, chief operations executive and chief financial officer at Community Health Network.  “By focusing on what is best for patients, we expect to deliver on our promise of exceptional care, simply delivered. Jason is an experienced health care executive with a passion for patient service.”

Fahrlander comes to Community from Tulsa, OK, where he served as CEO of Hillcrest Medical Center, a 691 bed hospital with $500 million in annual net revenue and 2,500 employees. Previously, he served as chief operating officer at Memorial Health System in Colorado Springs and senior vice president of Parkland Health & Hospital System in Dallas. He has held administrative leadership roles at both Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque and Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Fahrlander holds a Master of Health Administration degree from Washington University School of Medicine, as well as a M.S. degree in administration he earned at Southwest Baptist University. He graduated from Missouri State University with a B.S. degree in gerontology and psychology. He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

“Community Health Network’s visionary approach to facing the coming changes in healthcare is what drove my interest to this position,” said Fahrlander.  “The healthcare industry as a whole needs to find new ways of operating that deliver outstanding care in the most efficient manner. I think my successful record of working within highly-matrixed environments will help me in this challenging, but exciting role.”

Fahrlander officially assumes his new role on September 16.
