Clif Knight, M.D., named Community Health Network’s chief medical officer

Indianapolis, IN---Clif Knight, M.D., has been named chief medical officer for Community Health Network, effective October 1.  The appointment culminates a national search to replace Glenn J. Bingle, M.D., who retired from the network on August 31.

“Dr. Knight has been associated with Community Health Network for more than 20 years,” said Bryan Mills, president and CEO of the network. “He brings a high level of experience and knowledge of our organization’s culture to this crucial role, as we continue to improve the delivery of health care for our patients.”

Knight’s most recent position at Community was vice president of medical affairs for Community Hospitals North and East.  Before assuming that role in 2007, he was director of Community’s family medicine residency program. He was a resident in the program in 1987, and then practiced family medicine in Flora, Indiana, before returning to Community to become clinical director of the family medicine residency in 1992. Knight became a co-director in 1997 and the program director in 2001.

His peers honored him as the Family Medicine Teacher of the Year in 2004. Knight is a past president of the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians and is currently active with its foundation board. He has served on the Commission on Membership and Member Services for the American Academy of Family Physicians. He was part of a delegation to Vietnam, sponsored by Physicians with Heart, to teach about family medicine. He has served on numerous hospital committees, including the Indiana Medicaid Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.

Knight is married to his wife, Shelly. They have three children. The family resides in McCordsville, Indiana. In his spare time, Knight enjoys bird watching, golfing, going to the beach and gatherings with family and friends.
