Salaries and benefits

Community Hospital East Family Medicine Residency program offers competitive salaries and benefits to its residents. Salaries below are effective for the 2015-2016 school year.

PGY 1 — $53,518; $7,500 sign-on bonus
PGY 2 — $57,220 (In addition, up to $1,500 is provided to PGY 2 residents for USMLE Part 3 and permanent licensure in the state of Indiana.)
PGY 3 — $61,028 (In addition, up to $1,500 is provided to PGY 3 residents for ABFM test and permanent licensure in the state of Indiana.)

Paid Time Off (PTO) and Continuing Medical Education (CME)

  • Sixteen (16) weekdays for vacation, illness, business, personal or other leaves of absence.
  • Five (5) days off for continuing medical education (CME).
  • Five (5) paid days off during the two-week December holiday period.

CME Expenses
In addition to five CME meeting days, residents are allotted $2500/year for expenses.

Residents are given a laptop at the beginning of residency that they are able to use during all three years of residency, and that is theirs to keep upon graduation.

The hospital provides resident meals free of charge during working hours.

Fitness Center
The hospital has an on-site fitness center available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week for a nominal fee.

Lab Coats
Professional lab coats with your name are furnished at the beginning of your residency program.

Medical Insurance
Residents and their families are eligible for the same pre-tax health insurance benefits available to hospital employees and may choose from several different plans. Dental and vision plans also are available.

Health Care and Dependent Care
Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options for both health care and dependent care are available.

Retirement Plan
Residents are eligible for the hospital's retirement plan, including a variety of 401k options.

Sick Leave and Long-Term Disability
In addition to paid time off, residents are eligible for short-term and long-term disability benefits.

Life Insurance
Residents and their dependents are eligible for group life insurance as a pre-tax benefit.

Malpractice Insurance
The hospital provides, without cost to the resident, a public liability policy and malpractice insurance policy.
