Community Home Health Services receives grant for cognitive impairment training; $70,000 grant from Pfizer Pharmaceuticals to support enhanced geriatric home care

April 13, 2009—In a year where many organizations are cutting back on continuing education, Community Home Health Services (CHHS) is able to provide health care professionals with specialized training for geriatric care, thanks to a $70,000 grant from Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. CHHS, in partnership with the Indianapolis Discovery Network for Dementia (IDND), has organized a multi-session summit on cognitive impairment, to improve delivery of dementia care.

More than 300 Community Health Network health care providers will receive cognitive impairment certification through this educational opportunity. Full story >>

Celebration of life

ConsumersCHHS employees led the partnership with the staff of the Hutson School and Community Health Network Foundation for the inaugural “Celebrate Life” program. We had the opportunity to take on an especially meaningful project to provide an exceptional experience to new mothers who are in need of basic supplies for their newborns. Bottles, sleepers, pacifiers, bibs, blankets and many more items were purchased. The CHHS staff rallied together to collect over 4,200 items to fill 300 diaper bags for the new babies to meet the needs of approximately 300 babies and mothers who go home from Network hospitals each year without these items.
