Open visitation. SICU visitation may be limited depending on the patient’s condition.
Due to the intensive nature of the care being provided we ask that children not visit the SICU located on the first floor. Children may visit the MICU but are asked to follow the guidelines below:
- Children must be supervised at all times.
- Please do not allow a sick child to visit.
- Children should not play on the floor. Even though our floors are mopped daily, hospital floors are not ever considered germ free.
- Children should not stay overnight in the MICU.
- Please keep noise level to a minimum.
Special circumstances may necessitate changes in these visiting times. Please talk with the nurse to see if we can work out arrangements to meet your needs. Our patients need to get as much rest as possible, so we have no visiting times during the night. Always stop at the nurse’s desk and check with the staff before entering a patient’s room. Our top priority is taking the best care of our patients. There may be times when visiting may be restricted, postponed or canceled. If this becomes necessary, we will keep you informed of the reasons and when you may next visit.

Pastoral and spiritual care
The William Hogsett Chapel, located in the gallery, is an interfaith chapel open for prayer, meditation and reflection 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Community Heart and Vascular Hospital's Chaplaincy Services department is committed to providing support services to patients, families and hospital staff, with respect to their own needs and traditions. Professionally trained and board certified chaplains are available on an individual basis to assist with pastoral/spiritual care and counseling needs. They also strive to connect individuals who desire pastoral care and other spiritual or religious interventions with their own faith leaders, rites and traditions. An in-house chaplain is available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Chaplains are on-call for emergencies at all other times, including on holidays. To contact Chaplaincy Services, call the hospital operator at 317-621-8000 and ask for a chaplain.
