Say yes to carbs

Bread made from whole-wheat flour is a good carbohydrateA lot of diets lead you to believe that carbohydrates make you fat. No-carb diets are all the fad right now, but that doesn't mean they should be.

Your body uses carbohydrates to make glucose which gives you energy and helps keep your body fueled. Healthy foods that are high carbohydrates include ones that provide dietary fiber and whole grains, as well as those without added sugars. 

So, what should you be eating? According to, these five foods are a great sources of carbohydrates: 

  1. Whole-wheat flour
  2. Cracked wheat
  3. Oatmeal
  4. Whole cornmeal
  5. Brown rice 
Don't forget that fruits also contain carbohydrates that are good for your body. Apples and bananas are great sources of carbohydrates, especially if you suffer from a gluten allergy!
