Community earns top honors in Healthiest Employers of Indiana program

Employee wellness has been at the forefront at Community Health Network for years, with initiatives so groundbreaking that Community has been able to share them with others and become a prominent provider of employer health services. Now, the network’s employee wellness efforts have earned top honors in the first Healthiest Employers of Indiana recognition.

“Community Health Network has provided worksite wellness to employees since the early ’80s,” says Chris Dobbins, executive director, health promotion services. “I know of no other employer that has had the investment, senior leader support and commitment to provide health promotion education and intervention programs to employees—this is why we won the Healthiest Employer of Indiana award.” Full story

Community Health Network ranked in top 10 workplaces

Community Health Network is ranked in the top 10 among large employers in The Indianapolis Star’s 2009 Top Workplaces rankings—the only major Indianapolis-based health care system to make the list of best places to work. The rankings were based on a survey of Indianapolis-area workers regarding what is most important to them in their career and workplace—and which employers do the best job of meeting those needs.

All companies in Indianapolis with at least 50 employees were invited to participate in the survey process, which was completed for the Star by Pennsylvania-based employee recruitment and retention consultant Workplace Dynamics. Employees of Community and other participating companies were given the opportunity to answer 22 questions through online or paper surveys, and some 4,000 employees shared their views about being on the Community team.

Community’s recognition from The Indianapolis Star follows similar honors from The Herald Bulletin of Anderson, which named Community Hospital Anderson the best company to work for in Madison County.

According to the Star’s reporting on its survey, what matters most to employees is the culture of the workplace. Workers value the opportunity to advance within the company, the chance for training, recognition for work well done, and the leadership of fair, honest managers. They also value job security.
