Physicians

Christopher A. Foster, M.D., is a native of New Castle, Indiana. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Indiana University and his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. He did his internship and residency in internal medicine at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. He also completed his fellowship in gastroenterology at St. Vincent's Hospital.

He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

Dr. Foster has been on the medical staff of Community Hospital since starting his practice in Anderson, Indiana after graduation. He is married and has six children.

Jon M. Maier, M.D., is a native of Anderson, Indiana. He obtained his bachelor of arts degree at Indiana University, as well as his medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine. He did his postgraduate training in internal medicine at New Hanover Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, North Carolina, and at North Carolina Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He did his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio.

He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

He returned to Anderson to open his private practice and has been on staff at Community Hospital since then. He also served as chief of the Department of Medicine at Community Hospital in 1989. He has been the medical director of the Community Hospital Endoscopy Center since 2004.

He is married and has four children and two step-children.

Rod A. Nisi, M.D., is a native of London, England, and is a naturalized citizen. He obtained his bachelor of science degree and did pre-med study at Loyola University in Los Angeles, California. He obtained his M.D. at the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine, Cincinnati, Ohio. He also completed his internship in internal medicine at University of Cincinnati Department of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology (Tier 3: therapeutic biliary endoscopy) at Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Nisi was an assistant professor of medicine in the gastroenterology department at Indiana University Medical Center before going to Anderson. He joined the Central Indiana Gastroenterology Group in 1992 and has been on the staff of Community Hospital since he arrived in Anderson.

He is married and has three sons.

Thomas V. Nowak, M.D., is a native of Buffalo, New York. He obtained his B.A. in English from Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. He attended the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he obtained his M.D. He completed his residency at Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospital, also in Milwaukee. He completed his fellowship in in the Internal Medicine Department, Gastroenterology/Hepatology Division, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa.

He was an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Rochester (New York) from 1981-1986 and assistant professor of medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin from July 1986 through January 1987. He went on to be an associate professor of medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin from February 1987 to August 1990. Dr. Nowak was an associate professor of medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine from September 1990 to June 1995 and a professor of medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine from July 1, 1995 to June 1998. He joined the doctors of Central Indiana Gastroenterology Group in July 1997.

Dr. Nowak is board certified by the American College of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

Dr. Nowak is married and has three grown children.
