Frequently asked questions

What is the cleaning process for our equipment?

All equipment is processed after each use, utilizing strict guidelines from the American Practitioners of Infection Control, Society of Gastrointestinal Nurses and Associates and Centers for Disease Control.

Why do I need a driver?

A driver is necessary for two reasons: to take you home after your procedure and to discuss test results with your physician. The sedative medication stays in your system for up to 24 hours, affecting your reflexes and memory. Driving a car with sedatives in your system is a punishable DUI offense because it is considered driving under the influence of drugs.

How long does the procedure last?

You should plan to spend approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours during your visit. The procedure may only last a few minutes, but this is difficult to predict due to the anatomical differences of individuals. You will also spend up to an hour recovering from the sedation.

When will I receive my test results?

Your physician will speak to you and your responsible party after the procedure and prior to your discharge. He or she will also provide you with a written statement of results and any specific discharge instructions that he or she wants you to follow. If a tissue sample was taken, you should contact your physician’s office for those results within five business days of your procedure.
