Cardiovascular Nursing Institute
The Cardiovascular Nursing Institute has exciting opportunities for interested applicants to acquire a broad knowledge base in the field of cardiovascular care. Fellows of the institute will receive a structured classroom curriculum based on the educational standards from the American College of Cardiovascular Nursing (ACCN) while being compensated as a staff nurse. Clinical experiences coordinated with classroom lectures will be conducted at three hospital sites.
Mission
To educate and develop cardiovascular nurses in conjunction with the stated mission of the cardiovascular service line of Community Health Network. The educational program to prepare the registered nurse for a cardiovascular specialty will align with the curriculum of the ACCN. This program will provide a multi-level curriculum designed to develop competent and proficient nurses.
Objectives
- To provide a unique experience targeted toward the registered nurse who has a strong desire to enhance his or her practice.
- To provide the opportunity for expanding an established RN’s practice.
- To provide a structured, safe learning environment.
- To be recognized as the Cardiovascular Center of Excellence in nursing practice, supporting ACCN national standards.
- To provide safe and exceptional care for the cardiovascular patient, evidenced (measured) by nurse-sensitive outcomes resulting in a sense of pride experienced by the cardiovascular nurse.
- To provide a multidisciplinary approach to the learning experience reaching across the continuum of care.
- To retain highly qualified nurses.

Who Should Apply?
- New nursing graduates (preferably with one year of student nurse experience)
- Experienced RNs with no background in cardiovascular care

- Bedside Cardiac Monitoring Rhythm Analysis
- ABGs & Oxygenation
- Cardiovascular Pharmacology
- Pacemaker and ICD Function
- Invasive & Noninvasive Diagnostic Procedures
- Cardiac Rehabilitation Phases I, II, & III
