Community Heart and Vascular is offering a $25 vascular screening You may have heard about peripheral arterial disease (PAD), a condition that puts 8-12 million Americans at high risk for heart attack and stroke. PAD affects arteries outside of the heart and brain, commonly in the stomach, arms and legs. According to the American Heart Association, nearly 75% of those affected by PAD will never experience symptoms, mistaking them for signs of aging. However, a simple screening test called ABI can provide early detection.

An ABI screening test is a quick, painless and accurate test that will detect symptoms of PAD. Good screening candidates are those over age 45 with other risk factors for vascular disease, including diabetes, smoking, hypertension, abnormal cholesterol profiles, and/or family history.

Cook chooses The Indiana Heart Hospital for education site

Cook Medical has selected Community Health Network's Indiana Heart Hospital as one of two continuing education sites in the U.S. for thoracic aortic disease. A virtual platform was put in place providing cameras in the operating room (OR) that stream into an onsite conference room, where visiting physicians stand by, review the case, and have the ability to speak to the surgeon during the live procedure. On January 17th, The Indiana Heart Hospital hosted 14 physicians for its first continuing education session with the new technology.
