Program information

The School of Radiologic Technology is an accredited radiology school in Indianapolis, Indiana. To successfully finish the 24-month program, students must complete all clinical requirements. They may then sit for the ARRT national certification exam.

Our radiology program has a history of success: our students had a 100% pass rate for the ARRT exam and a 100% job placement rate (from 2008-2012). For more information about the radiology school, please review our policies and procedures.

• Twenty-four month program (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).
• Students will be assigned to evening hours of clinical time for exposure to emergency patient care during the last two semesters in the program.
• Two weeks vacation per year (10 school days).
• Ten personal days of leave per year.
• Seven holidays off per year.
• Didactic courses are held at Community Hospital East.
• Clinical experiences are performed at Community Hospital East, Community Hospital Anderson, Community Hospital North, Community Hospital South, Community Hospital North Imaging Center and Community Heart and Vascular Hospital. These are scheduled Monday through Friday during the weekdays in which the student is not in class.
• Elective eight-week clinical rotations are available in one of the following related areas: Computerized tomography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), sonography, interventional technology, mammography and vascular technology.
• Accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT, 20 N. Wacker Drive, Suite 2850, Chicago, IL 60606-3182, (312) 704-5300, www.jrcert.org).

*Graduates are eligible to apply for the certification exam administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists® (ARRT).

*Student matriculation practices and student and faculty recruitment are nondiscriminatory with respect to race, color, religion, gender, age, disability or national origin.

*Due process procedure, which ensures students are given the opportunity to correct behaviors considered to be unacceptable before dismissal from the program, is offered to all students.

Academic and graduation requirements include:

1. Maintain a minimum overall 2.25 grade point average (GPA).
2. Complete all clinical requirements as outlined in "Competency Based Education," i.e., complete all clinical objectives and demonstrate competency in a specific variety of procedures as outlined in ARRT guidelines for examination competency.
3. Meet attendance requirements. Graduates of the program must complete all requirements established by the school within the published program length.

Costs and benefits

Tuition, fees and benefits for the School of Radiology Technology program are outlined below:

• Tuition:
  • $3,000 per year. (Tuition fees may be subject to change without advance notice.)
  • $500 nonrefundable deposit will be required upon acceptance into the program. The deposit will be applied towards the student's first-year tuition.
  • $2,500 tuition balance is due on the first day of class; students may prearrange a payment plan.
  • Students may pay their remaining tuition in three payments per year when prearranged, according to the following schedule:
    — $500 due on the first day of the program
    — $1,000 due by the first day of each of the two remaining semesters.
    — Students who withdraw during orientation (first three weeks) are eligible for a partial refund, less the non-refundable deposit and textbook fees.
• Copy fee: There is a $75 copy fee due on the first day of class.
• Books: Approximately $1000.
• Dress: Students may purchase appropriate clothing at uniform shops.
• Application Fee: $10, to be sent with application to the program and made payable to Community Hospital.
• Graduation Fees: $60
• Registry Fee: The ARRT charges an application fee to take the national registry examination.
• Benefits/Services:
  • Community Hospital provides students the opportunity to purchase health insurance through its group plan. Health insurance coverage is limited to the enrolled student.

Transfer credit and advanced placement are evaluated on an individual basis.
