Prior to offering a residency candidate an interview, the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) application will be screened for the following:
Resident Eligibility
§
Applicants with one of the following educational qualifications are eligible for appointment:
i. Graduates of medical schools in the United States and Canada accredited by the LCME
ii. Graduates of colleges of osteopathic medicine in the United States accredited by the AOA
iii. Graduates of medical schools outside the United States and Canada who meet one of the following qualifications:
1. have received a current and valid ECFMG certification
2. have a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Indiana
iv. Graduates of medical schools outside the United States who have completed a Fifth Pathway program provided by an LCME-accredited medical school

Applicants must have passed USMLE Parts I, II, and Clinical Skills, preferably on the first attempt. More than 3 attempts on any one part disqualifies one from licensure in the State of Indiana and thus is an ineligible examination history. A score of 80 or higher is preferred. COMLEX is an acceptable substitute for osteopathic applicants.

Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or have permanent resident status.
§
Applicants must have at least one year of clinical experience in the United States. Research, volunteer work, and observerships do not qualify. It must be on-the-job or rotational experience.
§
No more than five years since graduation from medical school.
§
Applicants must provide three letters of recommendation with the author’s name, phone number, and address listed.
§
Applicants must possess a sincere interest in Family Medicine as a career.
Applications that fulfill these requirements will be considered for an interview. The faculty reserve the right to not extend offers for interviews to all applicants who pass these screening criteria. Similarly, the faculty reserve the right to offer interviews to selected applicants who do not meet these criteria if there are extenuating circumstances that would enhance the applicant’s residency candidacy.
