Community Health Network historical timeline: 1960s
1962
Community Hospital of Anderson and Madison County opens in May. Though it is named “Community,” it bears no relation to the Indianapolis-based Community organization that it will join about three decades later.
1963
The entity now known as Community Hospital South opens under the name Medico Environs. The hospital becomes University Heights Hospital about two years later, and the University Heights Hospital Auxiliary is formed shortly thereafter.
1964
Building 2 at Community Hospital (East) opens.
1966
- Psychiatric inpatient units and a coronary care unit open at Community Hospital (East).
- Community Hospital of Anderson and Madison County adds 83 beds.
1969
Community Hospital (East) continues to add specialized services, including a cardiac catheterization lab.
