Medical-surgical nursing certification review course

As members of one of the most complex disciplines in nursing, medical-surgical nurses can benefit by widening their knowledge through certification. The CMSRN (certified medical-surgical registered nurse) credential can be obtained by successfully completing the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN) and Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board (MSNCB) examinations. C and BC-baccalaureate credentials can be obtained by successfully completing the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) examination.

About this review course

These review courses are designed for medical-surgical staff nurses who care for patients on a daily basis on a general medical-surgical unit. The review course will prepare these individuals to seek certification in medical-surgical nursing. For acceptance in the course, the participant must be an RN (associate or baccalaureate prepared) and must be employed at Community Health Network.

The review courses are held for two 8-hour days. Normally, the review courses are offered once a year. The course content includes review of the following topics: fluids and electrolytes, endocrine system, neurological system, renal/genito-urinary system, reproductive system, cardiovascular system, integumentary system, gastrointestinal system, hematology, respiratory system, musculoskeletal system, and issues/trends.

Review course content is presented by certified registered nurses or clinical nurse specialists.
